NICOLE REINAN was born and raised near LaCrosse, Wisconsin. After graduating from University Wisconsin-LaCrosse with a major in Business Administration and a double minor in International Business and French, Nicole moved to Bangkok, Thailand to pursue her passion of volunteering by working with the Mekong Environmental Institute. Once back in the States, Nicole moved to Denver to enjoy the year-round sun and to start her career in business. As a project manager at ccintellect, a Denver-based marketing firm, Nicole managed clients’ web development projects and then moved into the security software industry with the move to Vericept Corporation. Her passion of learning called her back to Regis University of which she earned her Masters of Education and Secondary Teacher Licensure. Nicole currently is the board chair of WeeCycle and the vice chair of her children’s school parent council. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys traveling, yoga, weightlifting, knitting and spending time with her husband, Jay, and their children.
SAMANTHA THOMPSON is a Southerner by birth but a Coloradan at heart. For the past 18 years, Samantha has called Colorado her home minus a 5 year stint living in New York City. While living in Manhattan, Samantha had her dream job as an event planner working for an international law firm. She had the opportunity to work all over the world before settling down in Denver. In addition to raising a family, Samantha continued to follow her passion and started Bluebird Events. Her business allows her to do what she loves, throwing parties and organizing events, while being able to give back to the community.
CANDACE DALE is a mom to two girls who believes that it is the responsibility of the entire community to support our children. She’s proud to be a part of WeeCycle and bring her passions to an organization that helps families throughout Denver/Boulder. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY and moved to Colorado following getting her MBA from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). She spent several years in consulting helping clients across industries to use research to understand their customer needs and deliver on them. She now works for Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s strategy team where she focuses on ensuring that every member has a personalized experience. She’s proud to be raising two Colorado girls and enjoys spending as much time as possible in the outdoors with them and her husband Andrew. Depending on the weather, weekends are spent skiing, hiking and/or rock climbing as well as grocery shopping, of course.
JASON GREEN is a Colorado native, who grew up in Aurora. Jason attended Colorado State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a double minor in Political Science and African American History. While attending CSU, he served as president of the student body. Post graduation, Jason worked as a recruiter for the Job Corps program for several years where he followed his passions for working with youth and advocating post-secondary education. He also lived in Prague, Czech Republic with his wife Rebecca, where he taught English; they now have a two-year old daughter, Ellington. Currently Jason is the owner of Harmonix Solutions, where he provides finance, IT and social media marketing support for small businesses. He is also a professional DJ with Elite Entertainment! Jason enjoys traveling, is an avid gardener, foodie, runner and loves being a father!
KATIE ROACH migrated from St. Paul, MN as a young child and grew up in Longmont, Colorado. She attended Colorado State University, earning her BFA in photography. After working as a staffing supervisor for a local staffing company, she earned her MA in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Denver. Katie worked for several years at the Molly Brown House Museum managing a core volunteer staff of about 85 docents and 30 seasonal youth volunteers. Katie enjoys spending her days exploring Denver with her husband and their two daughters, and is excited to bring her passion for working with others to WeeCycle.
PAUL PLAKSIN was born in Belarus and moved to Colorado in 1994, growing up in Aurora. Paul received a Bachelor’s degree from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. After college, he moved to Denver, where he has been ever since. Paul currently works as a Business Development Executive at Flood and Peterson — a privately-held, local, commercial insurance broker. In his spare time, Paul enjoys skiing and watching all Denver sports teams.
ERIN PIER hails from Kansas City by way of St. Louis, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Saint Louis University. After moving to Denver and taking on her first teaching role at Savio House, a residential and day-treatment program for at-risk youth, she quickly realized that she would need more tools in her toolbox in order to better provide services to students and families in crisis. Erin continued her education at the University of Denver where she graduated with an Education Specialist degree in the field of Child, Family and School Psychology. She practiced as a licensed school psychologist in Aurora Public Schools for five years, and will continue that role at the Academy of Urban Learning in Denver this fall. She is also pursuing involvement in policy and advocacy as it relates to education, mental health and children’s and family issues. She’s thrilled to join WeeCycle and to support the mission of providing underserved families with essential items to alleviate stress and effect positive long-term outcomes. Erin lives in Denver with her husband, three awesome kids, and two canine pals.
AUSTIN SITTKO was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. After graduating from Azusa Pacific University, he started his first small business and has remained an entrepreneur. He owns Renovar Construction, a construction and real estate development company in Colorado. Austin and his wife and two daughters enjoy traveling and staying active with all the many outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. He is a avid golfer and fly fisherman.
